The practical workshop “Biotransformation of Food By-products into Cosmetic Actives”, developed within the BIOACT360 project (DOI: 10.62658/COFAC/ILIND/BIORG/2/2025), was presented by Professors Elisabete Maurício and Adília Charmier from the Faculty of Engineering of Universidade Lusófona, at the XI Casa das Ciências Meeting in Guimarães, from 7 to 9 July 2026.
The workshop aimed to demonstrate the potential of food by-products as valuable resources through biotransformation processes, focusing on their valorisation into bioactive compounds with potential applications in the cosmetic industry.
The participation also provided an opportunity to disseminate the SAVOR – Sustainability and Value in Organic Resources project, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme (Project No. 2025-1-ES01-KA220-HED-000350651), highlighting its contribution to organic resource valorisation, sustainable practices and the circular economy.
