As part of the NAWA PROM Programme, I had the pleasure of accompanying five Civil Engineering students from Lusófona University for a week of engineering, fieldwork and... plenty of memorable moments.
We carried out an Operational Modal Analysis on a pedestrian bridge over the Wisłok River, with our App4SHM getting a proper workout in the field. We also had the chance to visit the impressive "Karpatka" TBM tunnel construction site and see some super-engineering up close.
But the best part? Everything in between!!
From participants deciding that getting soaked in the multimedia fountain was a great idea, to almost getting fined for crossing on a red light, to discovering traditional Polish beer games (strictly in the name of cultural exchange, of course), there was never a dull moment. Plenty of laughs, new friendships, and memories that will definitely outlast the data we collected.
Research is important, but experiences like these are what make international programmes truly special.
